White Mountain Highs
We periodically drive from Philadelphia to Littleton, NH. It takes about 9 hours and is beautiful in spring, summer, or fall. It's a town right on the northern edges of the White Mountains, so the views are wonderful but it's not right on the tourist path. We stay at the Littleton Motel, which has been family owned for many years, it's got clean bright rooms and is right on the main street. In the morning you can get up and walk out into town to browse the cute little shops. Then you can jump in the car, drive down 93S and find mountain trails, waterfalls, and lots of outdoor things to do. Another nice drive is to the Sunset Hill House. it's an inn on a mountain road in Sugar Hill. We haven't stayed there yet, but we plan to. The road itself is beautiful to walk on because of the views, and there's a craft center to shop in.
